A. Christopher Slauer, Managing General Partner: As the founder of J Alexander Realty Group, Ltd., Mr. Slauer is responsible for the sourcing, analyzing, capital formation and underwriting of all of J Alexander's real estate investments. While J Alexander has a team of professionals with areas of expertise, Mr. Slauer stays active in all aspects of the investments that the firm makes.
Over the last 17 years, Mr. Slauer has gained extensive knowledge in the areas of commercial and residential real estate (with a focus on multi-family and retail), turnarounds and workouts of middle-market companies as well as venture capital. Mr. Slauer has not only gained considerable operational experience over a number of different industries but has successfully raised capital for transactions totaling $1 Billion in market value.
In 1995, Mr. Slauer co-founded and served as Executive Vice President of The Markpoint Company, a turnaround and workout firm focused on mergers and acquisitions of undervalued privately held companies. In 2000, having successfully sold his interest in The Markpoint Company, Mr. Slauer, using the knowledge gained in various turnaround opportunities, co-founded Markpoint Venture Partners, with a focus on early stage equity investment (venture capital). During this time, Mr. Slauer raised equity capital for several partnerships as well as four diversified private equity funds and served on the Board of Directors of six portfolio companies.
In 2002, as a part of his diversity initiative, Mr. Slauer founded Markpoint Realty Group, a commercial real estate investment group. During that time Mr. Slauer not only focused on the sourcing and due diligence of several of the projects but was successful in raising all of the investment capital for every partnership and fund that was formed.
In 2006, in order to capitalize on his real estate experience and to create a singular focus on one asset class, Mr. Slauer successfully sold his ownership in Markpoint Realty Group and its affiliates and founded J Alexander Realty Group, Ltd.
Mr. Slauer received his Bachelor of Science degree, in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University and was a founding member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity chapter at Texas A&M. Mr. Slauer is a member of NTCAR, the North Texas Commercial Association of Real Estate Professionals, TREC, The Real Estate Council, as well as ICSC, the International Council of Shopping Centers, and is very active in the real estate community. Mr. Slauer in addition to his involvement in the community, is also involved in youth sports as a volunteer and coach. He is married to his wife Michele and has three sons: Jacob (8), Joshua (7), and Zachary (6).
Bill Cawley, Partner:
William R. Cawley is a commercial real estate professional with more than 30 years of experience. He is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Cawley Wilcox Companies, a family of real estate companies composed of specialists who diagnose, recommend, and implement uniquely tailored solutions to satisfy client real estate needs. Within Cawley Wilcox is GVA Cawley, a consulting firm formed in 1986 specializing in all facets of tenant representation; GVA Cawley Realty Services, performing project leasing and property and facilities management; Wilcox Development Services, developing speculative and build-to-suit office and industrial projects; Cawley Partners, handling acquisitions, dispositions, financial services and asset management, by acquiring class A and B office projects that can be purchased with vacancy and below replacement cost. Recent Cawley Wilcox acquisition and development ventures have resulted in a market capitalization of over $664 million and 4.1 million square feet of office space.
Mr. Cawley has been named one of the country's "Hottest Brokers" by Commercial Property News and has made the Dallas Business Journal "Heavy Hitters" list for the last 15 years. He was inducted into the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors in 1997, and is an active member of NTCAR and ULI. Mr. Cawley also serves on the Board of Directors for Park Cities Bank and is a frequent speaker and contributor for numerous business organizations and publications. Cawley received a business degree from Quincy University in Illinois and is a licensed real estate broker in both Texas and Illinois. Mr. Cawley resides in the Dallas area and he and his wife actively support CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), Children's Medical Center and East-West Ministries.
Adam T. Tunks, Senior Analyst:
Mr. Tunks joined the J Alexander Realty Group team in January 2007. Mr. Tunks' primary responsibilities are to underwrite new investment opportunities, review property due diligence documents, monitor investment performance and provide investment status reports.
Before coming on board with J Alexander Realty Group, Mr. Tunks worked as an investment analyst with Northmarq Capital, Inc., a national real estate investment banking firm. During his tenure, he was involved with the underwriting and closing of over $550 million of commercial real estate financings. He has experience in underwriting various types of properties using a variety of financing vehicles. Adam is a current CCIM candidate.
Mr. Tunks received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, a Bachelor of Business Administration in Financial Consulting, a Minor in Mathematics and a Minor in Philosophy from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and Gamma Phi Beta, the premier liberal arts and business academic honor societies. Adam is a member of The Real Estate Council in Dallas, an active triathlete and a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America. He resides with his wife in the Dallas area.

As a Development Partner, while affiliated with companies such as the Midland Group, and Quadrant Properties, and as a consultant for Regency Centers, he was the Principal in charge of the development of a number of retail projects. For many years he has been the most prolific developer of Kroger anchored centers in the DFW market. During this period, Silverman has developed and redeveloped eleven Kroger Signature store anchored-shopping centers.
